Development Overview

Ainsley Gommon was appointed by Deeside College to develop a phased masterplan for their Coleg Llysfasi campus as part of a feasibility appraisal. The campus is located in a rural location four miles south-east of Ruthin and includes buildings and surrounding farmland extending over 300 hectares of both lowland and upland areas.

Coleg Llysfasi was first established in 1921 and historically provides a wide range of land based and related studies for learners from across North East Wales. The College’s estate buildings developed around an early 17th Century Manor house and milking shed and now includes a mix of 1960’s and 70’s teaching and residential blocks and a number of agricultural sheds.

The five development phases of the masterplan looked to improve connectivity across the site through landscaping improvements, identifying opportunities to remodel existing accommodation and the siting of future new builds.

In addition, as part of the proposals, a key building located close to the campus entrance was identified and opportunities to remodel or rebuild were explored.
