Two new shared ownership bungalows in Bodenham, Herefordshire for Stonewater Housing Association have been handed over, allowing a young man with a rare neurological condition to move in and live independently to his parents next door.

Constructed by local contractor J Harper and Sons, one of the bungalows has been specially designed to meet the young man’s mobility needs, including wide doorways, open plan living spaces and a track and hoist system throughout the building so he can move easily around the house in and out of the wheelchair. As he spends much of his time out of the wheelchair sitting on the floor, large floor to ceiling windows in the bungalows allow views out from all levels and create high levels of natural daylight within the rooms. Both bungalows have large garden spaces and a covered car port allows movement between the bungalows and the car whatever the weather.
