Development Overview

Ainsley Gommon worked with Lovell on a successful bid for a scheme of 221 dwellings which had previously secured outline approval. We prepared designs and coordinated the complex supporting documentation to achieve a successful Reserved Matters approval.

We worked in partnership to design a new suite of 18 house types for the scheme. The housing mix is completely tenure blind with a mix of affordable rent, intermediate/shared ownership and open market units varying in size from 2 bed 4 person units up to 5 bed 10 person detached properties.
There are a number of existing features within and adjacent to the site that have been incorporated and capitalised on as part of the proposals. In addition to the creation of different character zones, to help with way finding, the streetscape is easy to read with a principle spine route running through the development. The site entrance is framed by a new gateway incorporating planting stepping up in height with wildflower meadow planting running along the entire frontage of the site.

The streetscape maximise on the rural aspect of the site, with boundaries delineated with buffer planting. The built form creates a series of strong streetscapes which are varied and add character. A number of different corner turning and gable entrance units address the streets and provide active frontages to encourage security and safety. Parking is carefully integrated within curtilage between gables to open up the streetscape, and paired front gardens create a green sub-urban and semi rural feel to the scheme.
