Development Overview

Working together with Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, within the Prescot Conservation Area, as part of the Townscape Heritage Initiative, we have completed the reinstatement of an existing shop front together with the conversion of the upper floors to create new flats.

The project has involved the design of a number of key components, which help to provide a more visually pleasing design within the Conservation Area. This included; a paneled stall-riser to provide a base plinth for the shop front, pilasters to frame the shop front, an appropriately proportioned fascia over the glazing and appropriately moulded glazing bars, together with a new recessed lobby at the entrance to the shop.

We have also re-built historical features such as, the chimneys, and reintroduced cast iron gutters and downpipes. The upper floor sash windows have been replaced, and the floors which had been vacant for many years, have been converted into four new one and two bed flats.

The Prescot THI is a programme providing grants funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Knowsley MBC and other partners. At the core of the programme is the notion of ‘preserving and enhancing’ conservation areas, and the key aim has been to regenerate the area around Eccleston Street, the Market Place and the conservation area, by encouraging increased economic activity within the area and the town centre.
