Development Overview

Tan Y Fron is a mixed use development in Llandudno for Pennaf Housing Group, Conwy County Borough Council, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and Ty Llewelyn Community Centre. It comprises of 46 one and two bedroom extra care apartments with communal facilities, alongside a new joint health and social care facility. The new health centre provides a range of treatment and consulting rooms on the ground floor, with additional emphasis on dementia care. Social Services office space is provided on the first floor to serve the local community. The existing Ty Llewelyn Community Centre was also refurbished and extended at the same time to bring it in line with the new scheme, creating a centralised safe and inviting community hub development.

The scheme takes inspiration from the nearby Victorian seafront setting and traditional brightly coloured beach huts, creating a courtyard development wrapping around a centralised garden space for residents use away from the public areas of the development.

The BREEAM Excellent rated building has been designed to incorporate passive design strategies which are complemented by a number of sustainable technologies including gas-fired combined heat and power, rainwater harvesting and photovoltaic panels. The flat roof areas are covered with sedum matting which help to reduce rainwater run-off whilst helping to improve the biodiversity on site.
