Development Overview

The Riverside development in Pontypool is an innovative urban regeneration scheme providing 56 new homes of mixed tenure. Torfaen County Borough Council worked in partnership with Charter Housing Association, Lovell Partnerships and Ainsley Gommon Architects to redevelop this brown field site in the heart of the town centre.

Over 130 dilapidated and empty four-storey Council maisonettes were cleared from the site and the regeneration of the site is now complete. A mix of 35 houses for sale, 15 Homebuy units and 6 homes for rent provide a wide choice of new properties for local residents. Seven bespoke dwelling types including two and three storey houses and bungalows for the disabled, were provided in this fully integrated project.

The riverside walk is a key feature of the site and was part funded by a Welsh Government Environmental Grant which supported the infrastructure improvements and landscaping.
