Development Overview
This scheme includes the conversion and refurbishment of Ashton House, situated within Oxton Conservation Area, into 11 luxury housing units as well as 5 new bespoke houses within the grounds. The original house was constructed in the first half of the 19th century, and was since used as a hospital for many years. Later additions to the building are to be demolished in the proposals to restore the building to it’s former glory.
There is a high demand for high value housing in the area so the development has been designed to reflect this. The development ranges from generous 2 bedroom apartments to large 5 bedroom family homes. The new dwellings are of a more modern design intended to contrast and compliment the existing historic house.
The dwellings centre around a courtyard and incorporate the majority of existing trees on site. The landscaping scheme has been designed to enhance the existing planting and includes large communal gardens. Community engagement has contributed to the design of the scheme, focusing around repairing and retaining the existing building.
