Development Overview

Galloper Offshore Wind Farm is a 336MW wind farm being constructed by RWE Innogy approximately 40km east of Harwich, Essex. Following on from our involvement with the Gwynt Y Môr Wind Farm Control Building at Mostyn Docks, we were asked to prepare a design for a new Operations and Maintenance Base located within Harwich International Port, to provide an on-shore base for the running of the wind farm when complete and operational in 2018.

The new two storey building will accommodate up to 20 staff responsible for the operation of the wind farm, a further 50 technicians who are responsible for the maintenance of the wind farm and a large warehouse space providing storage space for spare parts. The development also includes a helipad and hangar which are required to support the operation of the helicopter used to transfer maintenance crew to the wind farm, as well as external storage areas, parking areas and a new floating berthing facility for Crew Transfer Vessels.
