Development Overview
Gorwel Newydd, Rhyl was officially opened by the Rt Hon Rhodri Morgan, First Minister for Wales on 17th July 2009.
The innovative new Extra Care housing scheme was designed for Clwyd Alyn Housing Association in partnership with Denbighshire County Council and provides 59 one and two bedroomed apartments for older people.
A 24 hour care and support package catering for individual resident needs is provided with community facilities incorporating a restaurant, lounge, hairdressing, laundry, treatment and activity rooms.
The new development provides a ‘home for life’ and promotes active and independent living, combining housing with care and support.
The development cost was £8.8 million, of which £5.25 million was provided by the Welsh Assembly as Social Housing Grant.
